Beach Municipal FCU is collecting donations for the Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) Back-to-School Care Fair Event.
This event is incredibly important as it provides essential community resources to families in need, right before the school year kicks off. A key part of the Care Fair is distributing thousands of backpacks to students. Members can make a difference by donating new backpacks or by making a monetary donation* that will go directly towards purchasing them.
Join us in making a difference! We're collecting donations for Operation Backpack at both Beach Municipal FCU branch locations until August 1, 2025. All contributions will go directly to the Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) Office of Family & Community Engagement. They'll ensure items are used for or distributed at the upcoming event, helping students in need.
If members have questions about the Back-to-School Care Fair, here are your two best options:
For quick questions, please reach out to Amy Mallinson.
For detailed inquiries or information on making a bulk donation, direct them to the VBCPS event coordinator: Jen McGowan, Coordinator, School & Community Partnerships, Office of Family and Community Engagement, via email at Jennifer.McGowan@vbschools.com.
Every year, hundreds of Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) students begin the school year without essential supplies like backpacks. Operation Backpack, in partnership with the VBCPS Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team, helps distribute these much-needed items directly to families, ensuring students in our community are prepared for class.
*If accepting a monetary donation, please make sure the checks are payable to "Beach Municipal FCU" with "Operation Backpack" in the memo line.
